The ACGC wrestling team, led by a bevy of great coaches and fine wrestlers, crushed opposing state ranked wrestlers and teams from class A and AA at the Paul Bunyan Invitational in Brainerd this past Friday and Saturday. Highlights included soundly defeating Foley,ranked number one in class AA and Frazee, ranked number two in class A. ACGC had four champions: Lucas Damm at heavyweight, Maverick Whitcomb at 192, Logan Peterson at 152 and Larry Bomstad at 145. Tyler Berghuis secured a fine second place, while youngster Rylan Molinaro at 103, Sheldon Rasmussen at 160 and Jordan Fester at 220 took solid third place wins in the tournament. Cameron Whitcomb and Jordan Nelson had fine fifth place finishes, while future star Brennen Holien secured a sixth place finish. Larry Bomstad had three falls, all in the first period. Logan Peterson secured three falls and a 4-2 decision and Maverick Whitcomb took first with two solid falls and a 6-2 decision. Lucas Damm capped the victory with two falls and a 7-0 decision.
